Tabemono in Tokyo – DisneySea Fine Dining at Oceano in MiraCosta Hotel

Spread the love

This is part of my Tokyo DisneySea trip which you can read about here.

The Oceano is one of three restaurants located inside the DisneySea MiraCosta Hotel.  It serves both a Mediterranean-style buffet and a fine dining set course meal.  We opted for the fine dining course.  When they say fine dining, it really is fine dining as I was impressed by the Oceano set course.

There was two five course menu offerings, one celebrating the 15th year anniversary of the MiraCosta at 10290 yen (~$102US) and another called the Silver Strand Course at 8500 yen (~$85US).  While pricey, the courses, execution, and service were all top-notch.  More importantly, it was delicious.  My wife, older daughter, and I opted for the 15th anniversary course, while the younger three had the kids menu.

Here is the progression of our meal:

I didn’t try most of the bread except one bite of the Mickey shaped bread.  It was dry and probably the only thing I didn’t like.

Shrimp, Goat Cheese, Sea Bream, Cannellani Style served with Marinated Vegetables, Dried Tomato Vinaigrette and Basil Foam

The appetizer course was beautifully presented with vibrant colors.  You cannot go wrong with well-executed raw seafood balanced with acidic veggies.

Seared Icefish and Long-Simmered Fava Beans served with Dried Scallop and Shortneck Clam Bouillon

I love icefish and have had this usually raw, but the seared version adds a nice toasty taste that is further enhanced by the fava bean’s own nutty and butteriness.  The scallop and clam bouillon adds a nice umami taste to bind the dish together.

Pan-Fried John Dory with Semolina Crust served with Bouillabaisse Source center with Orange.

This was a well fried fish with a crispy crust, flakey and moist inside.

Roasted Squab and Squab Jus center with Fresh Savory served with Dried Fruit Polenta

For the main, you can choose the beef tenderloin or squab.  We all went for the squab, a great dish and expertly prepared by charring the skin. As for the inside, it was very moist.

White Chocolate Cremeux with Passion Fruit and Orange Coulis served with Citrus Fruit Marinated in Lavender Honey

The dessert course was also nicely presented and highlighted their 15th year anniversary of the MiraCosta.  I’m not much of a dessert person, but did like the dish as it wasn’t too sweet.

The kid’s meal for the little ones served on a Mickey Plate.

The kid’s meal was a pretty big offering with sausage, pasta, fried chicken tenders, mash potato and shrimp, veggies, and chowder.  Being our first day in Japan, they didn’t have much of an appetite, but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the courses here, compared to what you can get in DisneyLand or California Disney.
