Tabemono in Tokyo – DisneySea Fine Dining in the Park – Magellan’s

Spread the love

While there are many nice dinner options at Tokyo DisneySea, Magellan’s is probably our favorite amongst them.  We were able to walk-in and get a table, but I would highly recommend making reservations if you booked at one of the Tokyo Disney Hotels or try getting a reservation by stopping by early in the morning.  This was from our had dinner back in early April of 2015.

You can view one of my trips to DisneySea here.

Once past the lounge, you see a room with a huge globe center piece. It is a quiet and intimate yet impressive feeling when you enter.

The lounge and entrance are located on the top floor and the restaurant is located in the basement.  We were lucky to have made reservation earlier in the day as the restaurant was fully booked when we arrived.

Had to post the ceiling as it adds so much to the impressive atmosphere of the experience.

View of the globe once we were seated. It’s a nice centerpiece, strategically placed and adds to the feeling like you’re preparing for a long journey and adventure to the uncharted waters.

We sat in the main dining area of the rotunda with the globe, but there we later learned that if you booked early enough, you can secure a seating in a “secret room” located behind what looks like book cases and into a hidden wine cellar where the dining experience is located.  Perhaps next time, but we were pretty happy to sit in the rotunda.

Marinated Tuna and Snow Crab Salad with Beet Sauce and Basil Oil

The tuna was expertly seared and the snow crab salad was very tasty.

Sautéed Sea Bream with Beuree Blance Sauce accented with Yuzu.

The skin of the sea bream was seared nicely and the sauce was light and acidic, so as to not overpower the delicate fish.

Kuroge Wagyu with Whole-Grain Mustard Sauce.

The wagyu tenderloin was expertly cooked and seasoned as it was tender, juicy, and flavorful.

White Chocolate Mousse with Apple Compote with Caramel Ice Cream

The dessert was also really good.  I love how the sweets in Japan are not overly sweet.

A dish of the main course from the kid’s menu that we ordered.

The kid’s meal looked pretty impressive and all my children enjoyed it.

There are in fact many fine dining options at DisneySea. Of the ones I’ve been to, I would rank them in the following order – Magellan’s, Oceano, and SS Columbia.  They were all by far better than what I’ve eaten at Disneyland and California Disney in Los Angeles, but if I can only pick one, I would make sure to eat at Magellan’s.
